Let me introduce you to Gladys, our robotic vacuum cleaner. I have a remote control that will tell her I would like for her to vacuum an area. First, I define the area by using lighthouses. The light houses emit an infra red signal that a robotic vacuum cleaner will not cross. I bought 4 light houses and I can confine Gladys' activities in just about any manner I choose.
We have 2 toy poodles and an inquisitive cat. When we first bought our robotic vacuum cleaner, the dogs would follow it but quickly got out of the way if Gladys turned on them. The cat likes to get on the coffee table and watch from above. It is fun to watch and we actually video taped Gladys doing her thing and sent it to our kids. Some thought it an extravagance but I think they envy ous and our robotic vacuum cleaner.
