Is Your Dyson Vacuum Cleaner Playing Up?
Although the Dyson range of vacuum cleaners are one of the best on the market, having such performance comes at a small but manageable price. Dyson use a variety of plastic parts and as such you will find one or two may need replacing from time to time.
The Dyson is, however, still an incredible machine boasting suction performance still unmatched after many years on the marketplace and despite slightly flimsy components, this should not put you off buying and or servicing one.
There are many little things you can do yourself to keep your Dyson in best condition but there are also other things that will need expert attention including electrical components which we advise you do not tackle yourself unless fully qualified.
Older machines can tend to suffer from broken electrical leads. Like any other appliance, constant flexing causes things to break and being an electrical part, it is simpler, easier and safer just to have the whole lead replaced for anew item. It is a relatively low cost repair.
Motors do wear out on any machine that uses them and you can expect to replace these after years of service. The signs that a motor is on its way out can include the smell of burning, higher noise levels and even visible smoke. Replacing an electric motor is a job for a trained professional who will ensure electrical safety and proper working order.
A known weak point is the flexi hose which can become split, blocked or damaged. Once again, this is a simple repair and can be replaced very quickly and easily.
For a few pounds, it is advisable to keep belts and brushes in good condition. Rushes should be as clean as possible. You will probably find a whole host of hair, sting, cotton and other such things wrapped around the brush and drive parts. It is a simple job to remove these items.
Remember, before attempting any repairs yourself, turn off the electric and remove the plug from the socket. If in doubt, take it to a proper repair centre.
