Cheap Dyson Vacuums For our money, we feel that the Dyson vacuum cleaner offers the best value for the price.

James Dyson: Inventor

James Dyson is the inventor that revolutionized the vacuum cleaner world with his Dyson vacuum cleaner.  He has another project that is beginning to make an appearance.  I saw a YouTube video where some guys were demonstrating the device.  It had two slots on top where you inserted your hands.  there apparently was a switch inside the unit and it started up.  The article says it has a 400MPH wind force,  The gentleman doing the demo showed his hands after the process completed.  They were indeed dry!  Next, he taped some strips to his hands.  The blower blew all of the strips off.  It was impressive.

Upright Vacuum Cleaners

It is a generally accepted fact that upright vacuum cleaners are best for carpet, although most upright vacs can also clean bare floors. However, if you mostly have bare floors with just a few rugs, a canister vacuum might be a better choice. Canister vacuums are also easier to carry up stairs or to the garage, though they tend to be more expensive than upright vacuum cleaners. We will create a separate report on canister vacuums at a later time.

I subscribe to Consumer Reports and pay a great deal of attention to their reports.  Consumer Reports performs the best vacuum cleaner testing, and in their latest review, 37 upright vacuums are rated for cleaning ability on carpet, bare floors and with tools, as well as for noise, emissions and ease of use. Their editors also test how well vacuums can pick up pet hair on carpet. Which? magazine  is the U.K. equivalent of Consumer Reports, and they also test upright vacuums. Although not all tested vacs are available in the U.S., editors go into great detail about Dyson vacuums, including reliability issues and company response. Consumer Reports and Which? Online are easily the most comprehensive reviewers of vacuum cleaners.

Robot Vacuum Cleaners

Robot vacuum cleaner

While most professional reviewers say the Roomba robotic vacuum is unlikely to totally eliminate manual vacuuming since using battery power limits the suction, other reviews say this disc-shaped, battery-powered robotic vacuum cleaner does a good job. Because of its size, it can get into small spaces such as under furniture and near baseboards. Some wish its dustbin held more dirt. Still, owners say the Roomba is a fun gadget, and reviews say it's a good light-duty vacuum cleaner. More expensive versions of the Roomba vacuum include extras such as a self-charging base, on-board scheduling and a remote control.

We have a Roomba 570 and it does a fairly good job.  When it finishes, it heads for home and docks itself for recharging.  I bought four lighthouses which are used to prevent Roomba from going into places I don't want her to go.  We call ours Gladys.  I have found many people name their Roomba.  Our cat leaves toys with a string tied to them and Glady sucks up the string, and stops and beeps for attention.  It is surprising how much dirt and hair gets picked up.

Dyson Luxury bagless vacuum

Dyson vacuum cleaners tend to get the most attention in reviews probably because of their revolutionary design, but in measured testing, Dyson doesn't significantly outperform others when it comes to cleaning carpet and bare floors. The some of the more current reviews of the DC17 Absolute Animal says this newer model is an improvement over earlier Dyson vacs, and with better suction. Many indicate that it's also a lot easier to push and pull, but at 20 pounds, it's still fairly heavy, matching the Kirby for weight.  This model comes with a powered hand tool for agitating pet hair out of upholstery, a great tool for a home with pets. Dyson has recently added a five-year warranty to new purchases -- a move probably meant to assuage some concerns in reviews about long-term durability. Though it's expensive, many happy owners say the Dyson DC17 is worth the premium.
